Clean Trigger

Clean Trigger

After use it is possible for the trigger mechanism to become clogged with dirt. To clean the trap spray with a strong jet of water. Spray directly into the trap opening to clean out the trigger mechanism.

Fix Bent Straps

Do not attempt to fix the straps without following these directions. Also, refer to video below.

Fix Bent Straps

The first step in correcting bent straps is to twist off the spring and relieve the pressure on the outer sleeve. Start by turning the spring backwards till it clicks into the diagonal opening on the cap (as pictured).

Fix Bent Straps

Once the end of the spring is in the groove, turn the spring the opposite direction and unscrew it over the cap until the base of the spring has passed the yellow catch indicator (as pictured).

At this point the trap can be set without risk of of being activated as you bend the straps back into shape. Depending on the severity of the misshapen straps use fingers or a pair of pliers to return to their original shape (as pictured).

Give the trap time to work

Give the trap time to work

Be patient, if a trap is not activated right away it is a good idea to leave it in place all day or even overnight. Gophers are active throughout the day but it may take time for them to return to a tunnel. However do not be afraid to reset a trap in a new area of fresh activity.

Bent straps can occur with improper setting.

To avoid bending straps do not push down when setting. To do this insert the unset trap to the base of the tunnel. Once the trap is in place, put a flat hand on the endcap that says “Don’t Push Down”, just as leverage, then with the other hand pull up on the black tube until it locks in place. Don’t push down, since any downward action, even ¼”, can bend the straps.

Also, when removing the trap from the ground, don’t pull the trap out by the black tube, as this will expose the straps and they can get bent on the way up. Instead pull up by the spring end, closer to the endcap that says “Don’t Push Down”.
